Pokémon TCG Pocket Launches Gible Drop Event With Impressive Prizes In Store for Players

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has launched its first Triumphant Light event, with a handful of impressive cards up for grabs. Last week, the mobile trading card game app launched Triumphant Light, a new themed booster pack containing cards mainly built around the Mythical Pokémon Arceus. As with other sets, Pokémon TCG Pocket has a cycle of new events built around Triumphant Light, with promo cards and other rewards on the line as prizes.

Today, Pokémon TCG Pocket launched its Gible drop event, a new solo battle event with five promo cards on the line as prizes. The event is named after the Gible Illustration Rare card being given away as a prize. However, the promo card packs used as rewards for the new set also contain a Raichu and Staraptor from Triumphant Light with alternative artwork, both of which are above-average cards. According to Serebii, the new promo event will run through March 17th.

What Rewards Can I Get From Pokémon TCG Pocket's Gible Drop Event?

Rewards Include Five Promo Cards, Wonder Hourglasses, Pack Hourglasses, And More

The new event features a total of five promo cards that players can collect via special promo packs. These promo packs are earned by defeating various Garchomp-themed decks in battle. There are a total of four Garchomp decks of varying complexity to beat, with players able to earn promo packs for defeating any of the decks. Players can also complete missions involving specific decks to win up to 36 Wonder Hourglasses.

Pokémon Games Are Destined To Get Worse, Not Better

As much as fans don’t want to admit it, the Pokémon games are destined to get worse as time goes on, and it's thanks to one burdensome feature.

The five new promo cards being given away during this event are:

  • Gible (Illustration Rare)
  • Cherrim
  • Raichu
  • Staraptor
  • Nosepass

By completing all the missions in the event, players can collect a total of 36 Wonder Hourglasses, 20 Pack Hourglasses, 4 Shop Tickets, 200 XP, and Stardust. Additionally, players will win promo packs, Shinedust, and XP every time they defeat one of the harder decks. As a note, this event does use Event Stamina, so players can only defeat decks so many times a day for a chance at earning rewards.

Our Take: Gible Event Gives Out Some Solid Cards

The Event Isn't Flashy, But It Still Provides Players With Something To Do

While previous Drop Events had given away a popular Pokémon as the featured Illustration Rare card, this set opted for a more subdued approach. Honestly, I think that's a good thing since Gible goes along with Garchomp ex, one of the stronger Pokémon cards in Triumphant Light.

The inclusion of Raichu and Staraptor are both solid promo choices, as both cards have potential in other decks (Raichu, more so than Pikachu). All in all, this is a solid start for Pokémon TCG Pocket's next set and round of events leading to the launch of Ranked Play later this month.
