Wonder Woman Could Be DC's Best Superwoman, and Her New Design Proves It
Though DC's new Superwoman has settled into her new role, Wonder Woman is making a strong case for the title. DC Comics is preparing for a months-long celebration of Superman and a new series of variants shows heroes in Superman-inspired costumes, and no one pulls theirs off better than Wonder Woman.
The year is passing by quickly, and it won't be long before May is here. As DC Comics gets ready to celebrate the Man of Steel's upcoming film with the "Summer of Superman" initiative, the publisher revealed a special treat in its May solicitations. This month will feature a 'Supersmash' series of covers that feature DC heroes with new costumes modeled after Superman.
Diana prominently features on the covers of Justice League Unlimited #7 as well as Wonder Woman #21. Both covers show Wonder Woman's usual battle garb mixed with Superman's traditional colors, giving her a unique and powerful look.

Sorry Superwoman, Diana Just Nails This Look
Anyone in doubt of Superman's popularity needs only look around to see the hype currently building. With an anticipated reboot just months away, this is going to be a big year for the Big Blue Boy Scout and DC Comics isn't letting the opportunity to celebrate Superman pass it by. This April, the publisher is launching the "Summer of Superman", an initiative built around the Last Son of Krypton to show everyone just how amazing he is. Over the summer, DC is going all out with new ongoing titles and miniseries featuring Superman and his greatest and most powerful allies.
While fans who are currently reading Superman might be aware that DC Comics already has a Superwoman in the form of Lois Lane (and Lana Lang as well), that doesn't make Wonder Woman any less awesome here. Both of her Superman-inspired costumes have the right touch, staying true to her design and overall 'look' while properly honoring her close friend. What really cinches both costumes is the tiara that features a subtle Superman shield, a perfect way of blending both their aesthetics. She may never become Superwoman, but as this costume proves, Wonder Woman could damn well pull it off.
Wonder Woman Has Everything Needed to Be DC's Next Superwoman
These Costumes Prove Diana Could Easily Fill In for Lois and Lana
Of course, Wonder Woman is an iconic hero in her own right and doesn’t need to adopt Superman’s image. But it’s hard to deny how well she makes these new costumes work. Thankfully, the DC Universe has two capable Superwomen already. But if anything happened and someone needed to fill in for them, Diana could easily do it. Her already amazing costume looks even cooler with a dash of Superman’s colors, and she’d do his symbol proud. While she’s not out to replace Superwoman anytime soon, these covers make a case that Wonder Woman certainly could.
Justice League Unlimited #7 and Wonder Woman #21 are both available in May from DC Comics.
