I'm Convinced This New Reacher Season 3 Character Will Die Before The End
WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Reacher season 3, episodes 1-3.
After the first three episodes of Reacher season 3, I'm convinced that one particular character won't make it to the end of the latest season. Reacher season 3 has introduced a new set of supporting characters, most notably the hard-nosed DEA agent Susan Duffy. Like Reacher, Duffy is highly intelligent and perceptive, which makes her a great match and counterpart to Reacher in season 3. With Duffy comes a DEA veteran looking at retirement, Guillermo Villanueva, and the newbie Sam Eliot.
Reacher season 3, episodes 1-3 show how Reacher, Duffy, and company are working together to infiltrate Zachary Beck's shady rug business, Bizarre Bazaar. Given how many villains Reacher is stacked against in season 3, I would be shocked if everyone in Reacher's squad comes out alive by the season finale. Knowing that Reacher has plenty of more adventures ahead of him and Neagley is getting her own spin-off series, it seems more than likely that one of these Boston-based DEA personnel will die in Reacher season 3.
It Looks Like The DEA's Agent Eliot Will Die In Reacher Season 3
Eliot Makes Too Many Mistakes In The First 3 Episodes Of Reacher Season 3
While Guillermo could certainly be Reacher season 3's most tragic death, all early signs point to Sam Eliot dying out of the three DEA agents. Guillermo dying just before retirement seems like a tired trope, one that may be just as upsetting as Guy Russo's sacrificial death in Reacher season 2. The younger agent, Eliot, will want to make up for his map mistake in episode 2, which could inspire him to become overzealous and place himself in a compromising position.

How Reacher Earned His Purple Heart In The Military
The first episode of Reacher season 3 notes Reacher's highly decorated military record as a retired Army veteran, which includes a Purple Heart.
Although Guillermo seems to have a soft spot underneath his weathered demeanor, Eliot is much more prone to making mistakes, which could lead to his downfall in Reacher season 3. Duffy and Guillermo leaving Eliot alone to babysit their hostage, John Cooper, Richard Beck's bodyguard, seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
Eliot is overly sympathetic towards John and falls for his most unconvincing tricks.
Eliot is overly sympathetic towards John and falls for his most unconvincing tricks. His compassion would be great in another profession but it makes him and his DEA colleagues quite vulnerable. It's obvious in Reacher season 3, episode 3 that Eliot tending to John's head wound and not putting the cap back on the rubbing alcohol was yet again another mistake.
Reacher Has A History Of Killing Off Likeable Supporting Characters
Guy Russo's Death In Reacher Season 2 Was One Of The Most Tragic In The Series
It wouldn't be a true Reacher season if there weren't bloodshed on both sides of the fight. Guy Russo from Reacher season 2 seems like the best example of a likable supporting character who dies while assisting Reacher. Several members of the 110th Special Investigations unit also die in Reacher season 2, which fuels Reacher's desire for vengeance throughout the season.
Since the series is anthological, it only makes sense that one or a handful of newly introduced characters end up on the chopping block as Reacher is obviously not going to die. The series could pull off a surprise by killing Susan Duffy, which would make her the first of Reacher's love interests to be killed off in the Amazon series. Those who read Lee Child's Persuader book, which Reacher season 3 is based on, already have an idea of what's in store.
