"It Was The Most Fun Secret I've Ever Kept": The Masked Singer Season 13's Scheana Shay Details The Ghostbusters Night Performance We Never Got To See & Previews Her New EP & Book
The Masked Singer season 13's Group B contestant Bat was unmasked during Voices of Olympus: Unmasking of the Gods Night, and she was revealed to be Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay. The Masked Singer season 13 welcomed back host Nick Cannon, along with panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora. During the Group B premiere, Scheana made her debut as Bat, along with Boogie Woogie, Griffin, Pearl, and Space Ranger, who've all moved on to Ghostbusters Night.
During The Masked Singer season 13 Voices of Olympus: Unmasking of the Gods Night, Scheana sang a fantastic rendition of Sabrina Carpenter's hit song, "Espresso." She stumped all the panelists, none of whom were able to guess her true identity. After Scheana's performance as Bat, she revealed that she knew both Jenny and Nick, which stunned everyone. Before Scheana was unmasked, the Masked Singer panelists gave their final guesses about who she might be. They included Larsa Pippen (Jenny), Lisa Rinna (Ken), and Bethenny Frankel (Robin and Rita). When Bat was unmasked and revealed to be Scheana, the panelists were all pleasantly surprised.
ScreenRant spoke with Scheana about her Masked Singer season 13 experience, including what the Bat costume meant to her. She also detailed her exciting Ghostbusters Night performance that viewers won't see, and gave a teaser for her new book, My Good Side, and her upcoming EP.
The Masked Singer Season 13's Scheana Shay Loved The Anonymity Of The Show
"It Was The Most Fun Secret I've Ever Kept..."
As a celebrity who's used to having her every move documented and judged on Vanderpump Rules, Scheana loved the fact that she could be anonymous on The Masked Singer. She shared that it was "literally such an incredible experience to be able to just go out on stage as a character, as Bat, not as Scheana, not having anyone judge me, have any preconceived notions." Scheana added, "It was the most fun secret I've ever kept, and I am so glad that I got this opportunity."

Scheana Thought Her Masked Singer Bat Costume Was Perfect For Her
"I Could Not Have Asked For A Better Costume..."
Scheana explained her journey to becoming The Masked Singer season 13's Bat, and why it was meant-to-be. She said, "So they presented me with this costume, and they said, 'If you hate it, if it's not you at all, we can go back to the drawing board. But this is what we think would be great for you. We have you in mind for this costume.' The second they showed me it ... jaw dropped on the floor."
"I was like, 'How did you know?' I love bats. My daughter's middle name is Moon. They're nocturnal. They're misunderstood creatures. Literally one of my favorite animals since I was a kid, and I don't think a lot of people in my life know that. So it was just so perfect, and I could not have asked for a better costume," Scheana gushed.
Scheana Shared The Sign She Received To Sing Sabrina Carpenter's 'Espresso'
"I Hope I Made Sabrina Proud..."
At first, Scheana was unsure if she wanted to sing "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter during The Masked Singer season 13 Group B premiere. She explained, "We were going back and forth between two songs--Meghan Trainor's 'Criminals' was an option and there were some other older songs. And then I got a call from my producer, and he was like, 'Look, we're thinking "Espresso." It would be great to have in this episode.' And I was like, 'Oof. I don't know about that.'"

However, Scheana then received the sign she needed to convince her to perform "Espresso." She shared, "But then that night I went to New Orleans for a Taylor Swift concert. Sabrina Carpenter came out and the two of them sang 'Espresso.' So if that’s not a sign ... the day I get asked to do this song..." Scheana then shared that she said, "Alright, let's do it." She added, "And I hope I made Sabrina proud."
Scheana Revealed Details About What Would've Been Her Ghostbusters Night Performance
"I'm So Bummed That I Didn't Make It At Least One More Week..."
Scheana revealed that, if she'd had advanced to Ghostbusters Night, she would've sung "Good Girls" by Elle King, which she felt would've been an even stronger performance than "Espresso." She shared, "I felt so strong about this song. My rehearsal was literally kick-a**. I was on a motorcycle. I’m so bummed that I didn't make it at least one more week because I feel like that was an even stronger performance."
Scheana Loved The Masked Singer Panelists' Wrong Guesses For Her
"That's The Point--To Stump The Judges..."
Scheana expressed that she really liked the fact that the panelists--Robin, Jenny, Ken, and Rita--didn't guess who she really was. She said, "I loved it. That's the point--to stump the judges. So I think the clues that we gave, the little hints that I gave at the end ... It was great, and I loved all of their guesses. I was like, 'Wow, if you think I look like Larsa Pippen in this. I mean, thank you.'"
Scheana also explained that she'd crossed paths with Jenny years ago when she appeared on her podcast. She's also been friends with Jenny's sister for over 15 years. She said, "So we've always kind of been in each other's lives, but I hadn’t seen her in so long. So this was fun and just a full circle moment."
Scheana Will Release A Book & EP Later This Year
"I Just Wanted To Be In Control Of My Own Narrative For Once..."
Scheana revealed that she's going to be releasing an EP later this year. She's released several songs in the past, including "Good As Gold" and "Apples." She said, "I have an EP that I've been working on for over a year, and I just was afraid to put it out. Worried about what people are going to say. They're going to think this song is about this person when it's not. And I just didn't want to have to explain myself, so I withheld it."
Scheana shared that her book, My Good Side, has a launch date of July 22, 2025, and it was her biggest priority on top of doing The Masked Singer, so, now that it's done, she'll be releasing the EP. She said, "I will be putting out the EP because I don't want to be afraid of what people are going to say anymore. You know, I just sang on prime time national television for millions and millions of viewers. So [I'm] putting out an EP that’s just a fun little side project that I will do at some point this year. I don’t know when exactly."

This Clue In Last Night’s The Masked Singer All But Confirms Paparazzo’s Identity
One of The Masked Singer season 13 contestant Paparazzo's Shrek Night clues has all but given away his true identity. Find out who he might be.
Scheana also talked about her book. She said, "It's called My Good Side, but, in this book, you don't just get the good side of me. You get everything. I'm raw, vulnerable... literal open book. And I don't hold back. I worry that I've said too much in this book, and I can't take it back, you know?"
However, Scheana also expressed excitement about releasing her book. She said, "But I'm just excited for everyone to read it and to understand me a bit better. Because I feel like on a short episode of a TV show with an ensemble cast, you only get parts of the story, and this book gives you the full story." Scheana added, "I just wanted to be in control of my own narrative for once, you know, with my edit control, and that’s what great about doing my podcast [Scheananigans with Scheana Shay]. But putting it in a book is just such a big accomplishment."
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
